Nicon Mladin was born on
the 20th of March 1995 in Bucharest, Romania. Raised in a
family of artists, he manifested a great interest in music from an early age.
He studied at the “George Enescu” College of Music in Bucharest under the
guidance of Ana Maria Ciornei and Eliza Bârzescu, graduating in 2014.
He is currently studying at the University of Music and Performing Arts in
Vienna where in 2019 he finished his bachelor studies with great success under
the guidance of Prof. Stefan Arnold and continues to study now as a
postgraduate student with Prof. Jasminka Stancul.
During his studies in Romania he took
part in many masterclasses for piano and chamber music and worked with pianists
such as Dan Grigore, Dana Borşan, Viniciu Moroianu, Imre
Rohmann, Tunde Kurukz, Hector Sanchez, Henri Siegfridsson, Martin Hughes and
Eduard Kunz.In 2015 he received a scholarship from SoNoRo and took part at the
„Sonoro Interferenze” masterclass in Bad Endorf, Germany. During this
occasion, he played in a series of chamber music concerts
with the professors.
He also took part in several national and international piano
competitions and won prizes such as the 1st Prize in 2013 and 2014 at the
National Olympics for Music, 1st and Grand Prize at the „Piano Artis” National
Piano Competition, 1st Prize at the „Fr. Chopin” Piano Competition, „Irina
Şaţchi” Piano Competition and „Pro Piano” International Piano Competition. He
also won 2nd prize at „Simone Delbert-Fevrier“ International Piano Competiton
in France and „Victor Giuleanu” International Competition in chamber music. Most
recently this year, he won 2nd prize at the „Vienna International Music
Competition”. During this time he
also held numerous recitals in Romania, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany and
France. He continues to do so
throughout his time at the University of Music in Vienna. He
made his debut with the orchestra of the „Ion Dumitrescu” Philharmonic from
Ramnicu Valcea, Romania, playing
Rachmaninoff’s second piano concerto.
